Since opening its doors in 1957, Pearl River County Hospital & Nursing Home has been focused on one purpose and that is to provide the local citizens of Poplarville and the surrounding areas with quality healthcare close to home. In 1970, services were expanded with the addition of a 60 bed nursing home. A continued focus on the healthcare needs of the community still remained when 60 more beds were added to the nursing home in 1987.
In 2010, Pearl River County Hospital became a Critical Access Hospital. This is a designation supported by the Federal Government for qualifying rural hospitals. With this designation, Pearl River County Hospital opened a 24-hour Emergency Room which provides critical care and life-saving intervention for the under-served rural population of Pearl River, Hancock, and surrounding counties, and our 22 inpatient beds provide professional care for our Acute Care and Swing Bed patients.
Our Ancillary services include Radiological Imaging, Laboratory, Respiratory, as well as Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy.
Our other services include our Prime Care Family Health clinic, which offers outpatient medical, wellness, and mental health services, as well as our Intensive Outpatient Program, which offers specialized services for the treatment of depression, anxiety, and other behavioral disturbances for our senior adult and geriatric patients of our community.
